The Socialist Confederation of Latin America (commonly known as the Latin Confederation or just Confederation) is a political, economical and military alliance between various communist states in South America, which entered the Soviet Union. The Confederation agreed to declare war on the United States after Russia revealed its plans to launch a massive attack against the nation, as neither Russia or the Confederation believed they could defeat the USA on their own. This event triggered the Third World War, in which the Confederation attacked the United States from the Mexican border and eventually also assisted in the invasion of Europe.
Due to the distant geographical position and lack of material resources compared to its Soviet allies, the Confederation prefers lighter units focusing on guerrilla warfare. Despite this, the Confederates are well known for their tenacity and aggression on the battlefield, instilling fear in even the strongest armies due to their deceptive and furious tactics. Several research branches have also popped up, including extensive research into white phosphorus and B.O.O.M warheads.
Description
The Latin Confederation is the South-American branch of the Soviet regime. The Confederation cannot reliably depend on material and military support from their Soviet allies as much as their peers, so guerrilla warfare and quick strikes are commonplace tactics.
Since the Confederation’s armory is primarily made up of outdated Soviet weaponry, smoke weapons and flame weaponry. Fast as a panther and just as deadly, the Latin Confederation is a deceptively powerful force on the battlefield.
History
Communist states started popping up in South America not long after the Second Great War to overthrow puppet governments installed in the continent by the United States, and their number increased alarmingly just before the Third Great War. Nonetheless, the communist states soon realized they could not defeat the American oppression on their own and thus united themselves in the Socialist Confederation of Latin America for better economic and military support. Even this was not sufficient however, and as a result the Confederation fostered close relations with Russia and joined the newly re-enstablished Soviet Union together with Russia and China.
Gameplay
The Latin Confederation focuses on a mixture of guerrilla warfare, sabotages and hit-and-run tactics, with a stronger emphasis on using flame weaponry and smoke bombs. Most of its units excel in harassment, sabotaging and distracting the enemy.
Jaguar Assault Tanks are not as powerful as their other Soviet counterparts, but they use a mixture of speed and the element of surprise to harass the enemy. The Latin Confederation's Bomb Buggy is faster than the Demolition Truck, and it can be used to make a deadly suicidal surprise on the enemy base. Fury Drones can ambush and cripple unlucky units who didn't detect them in time. Mortar Quads along with its support power Motor Ambush can cause a ruckus on the enemy as well. Smoke weapons like Smoke Turret and Smoke Bombs support can weaken the enemy's firepower while napalm weaponry such as Arsonists and Vultures can create firestorms, damaging units and structures nearby. The Confederation's hero, Morales, is a highly skilled sharpshooter very capable of long-range harassment, sniping enemy units and calling airstrikes on structures from afar.
However, the Latin Confederation has its own weaknesses as well. Most of its vehicles are not as durable as compared to the other Soviet factions. Many of its surprise attacks and sabotages can be diminished with better scouting, awareness and detection capabilities like Mind Readers and Sensor Towers.
