The Third World War, or World War III, was a global war that lasted for most of 1982, beginning when the Soviet Union, led by Russia - along with the Latin Confederation and China - invading the United States of America, as well as Europe, with support from the Russian-created PsiCorps, a mysterious group led by Yuri who employed mind control and manipulation to assist in the war. Opposing the Soviet Union were the Allied Nations, a loosely aligned military alliance consisting of the USA, European Alliance and the Pacific Front.
Despite the best efforts of the Allied Nations, who for a while seemed to be turning the tide, the Soviet Union was able to eventually win the war with the usage of their deadly nuclear arsenal, taking control over all of North America and all of continental Europe, with the British Isles still under Allied control. In addition, Russia was successful in defeating a Chinese/Pacific Front coalition that attempted to usurp their position as leader of the Soviet Union, while Yuri's PsiCorps was successful in advancing their goals.
Major events to be detailed are:
- Invasion of America
- Invasion of Europe
- Counter-invasion of Russia by Pacific Front/America
- Insurgency in Africa/Middle East led by Scorpion Cell, including Soviet/Allied involvement
- War and insurgency in China between PRC and ROC, including involvement of PsiCorps and Russia
- Chinese/Pacific Front invasion of Russia
- Chinese & Pacific Front war, including PsiCorps involvement
Forty years have passed since the Allies won the Second World War and killed Josef Stalin. In that meantime, the Allies have elected a puppet governor, Premier Alexander Romanov (rumored to be a distant cousin of Tsar Nicholas II), to keep relations between the Allied Nations and the Soviet Union stable. While it was successful at first, things started to nosedive since the appointment of a mysterious man called Yuri as Romanov's chief advisor. The Allies began to suffer across the world. Due to political pressure, the Allies were forced to retreat their forces from Russian territory. China, Mexico and most of South America had turned to communism while all contact with the American intelligence network in Asia was mysteriously lost.
The final result culminates in March 8th, 1982, with Romanov's declaration of war against the United States and massive Soviet invasion forces attacking from both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Alongside these fleets, The Latin Confederation also pushed up through Mexico, nearing the American border each day. The US would've just used their most capable deterrent, the Peacekeeper ICBM network, to fend off these threats to its coasts & borders. However, it was disabled under unknown circumstances (Unknown to them, PsiCorps troopers infiltrated the facilities where the Peacekeeper silos were kept and destroyed them from within. The agents soon committed suicide to avoid the Americans from linking the evidence together).
As shots began to be fired across both Western and Eastern seaboards, the American forces desperately rally to safeguard Washington D.C. from an incoming Soviet assault, knowing that both the Pentagon and White House are vulnerable. Elsewhere in the Eastern United States, a top class Soviet General was tasked with destroying American forces and occupying New York City.
Prelude to War
New Heroes, Old Heroes
Ten years before the invasion of America, an opportunity to reacquire the bodies of the two old heroes, Volkov & Chitzkoi, arose as the Allies were in the process of withdrawing from Eastern Europe, due to political pressure from other communist countries. An isolated Allied regiment was in the possession of these bodies at an abandoned Soviet Tech Lab in East Ukraine.
A special operations squad consisting of Boris and Morales was assembled with the objective to reclaim the bodies of these old heroes and return them to Soviet hands. Shortly after their deployment, they made quick work of enemy forces and secured the area around the Tech Lab. Morales entered the facility and then got into the truck containing the cybernetic bodies of Russia's previous heroes before driving out, Boris following on behind him.
After they secured the extraction point, Boris and Morales both escaped the area, along with the truck, before the Allied forces began to realise what just happened. They wouldn't know what exactly occurred until their base in Paris was destroyed by a revived Volkov & Chitzkoi ten years later.
Soviet Invasion of United States
Given that a face-front ground invasion would no doubt alert the Americans to a threat to their missile network, the Proselyte's agents, a few Adepts, utilized subterfuge as touring civilians to land in a nearby marina, where a small American military outpost with a Voyager transport for river crossings was stationed. One of the Adepts went to secure it, albeit with a bit of difficulty, particularly the American German Shepherds whom accompanied infantry in patrol duties constantly.
The Voyager and its occupant were used to transport the other agents, to the other side of the river, past a fortified beach where a few American forces could be mind-controlled as an escort. The Proselyte was informed of a Satellite Hack Center in the region that could be used to survey the immediate area and thus locate his target. Reinforcements came in the way of more Adepts and a team of Engineers that'd be used to control this Center, doubtlessly under guard.
The Proselyte was forced to rush his agents to the target, as he is aware the clock was ticking – The Americans weren't waiting for anyone's order to fuel the rockets and would be ready to fire the instant Dugan gave the final order. At worst, the rockets would be ready to launch in less than an hour.
Managing to capture the Satellite Hack Center, the Proselyte locates the silo network, which was heavily defended and locked tight in, and thus realized only a skilled infiltrator could ensure an easy means for the Adepts to enter and prevent launch. Fortunately, one such Infiltrator, but a single one, was in the area, but miles away, which added further complications. The PsiCorps was forced to fight through patrolling American forces, particularly priority threats like Humvees and Abrams tanks, to get to a small base garrison to locate and subdue the Infiltrator. From there, and with most of the mission time spent, the Proselyte had to dash to the silos' location.
At the main garrison, where the silos were located, the PsiCorps had to mind-control a few key targets to eliminate any obstacle or threat that could kill the infiltrator – even authorized personnel would be found suspect if walking unannounced around the AFB premises. The main control center for the missile silos, a Tech Center, was infiltrated in the nick of time.
When President Dugan finally gave the order for the Peacekeepers to be launched, the PsiCorps adepts were in position to manipulate the missile command and keep the silos closed, which detonated along with the warheads. With the operation successful, the Proselyte ordered the Adepts to commit suicide to make sure that no traces of what happened could be linked with them.
Without the Peacekeeper ICBMs, the American forces were forced to withstand the brunt of the Soviet invasion with heavy losses, until then unaware of the existence of psychic powers or their use prior and during the invasion. With the Adepts' suicide, no immediate link was set and the Americans were led to believe of sabotage.
First Battle of Washington
The American forces barely had a small gap of time to prepare defenses for a combined enemy amphibious, ground and paratrooper assault, as Soviet forces were spotted traversing the Potomac. The evacuation was started too late, creating further chaos among D.C.'s inhabitants who attempted to flee and were caught in the crossfire. Allied troops garrisoned civilian structures to use as firebases against potential enemy strike routes, as well as amphibious landings in three different shore landings, one of which led straight to the Pentagon.
The first Soviet wave consisted of paradropped infantry followed by landings with Borillos and Zübr transports, some of which tried traversing the Potomac causeway to strike the Pentagon from behind. Despite heavy losses, the Allies were able to fend off the invasion.
The second wave proved to be far more problematic as Kirov Airships arrived and slowly encroached Washington's coasts to bombard them, which would grant breathing room for the Soviets to move in. The Allied Commander, who was only in charge of a company of troops and vehicles at the time, was granted authority and resources to establish defenses with the help of an external Construction Yard, provided he could defend either of the two City's Power Plants. Most of his investment was performed on Patriot Missile Batteries, which, combined, helped fend off and even shoot down the majority of invading Kirov's. Despite casualties, the Allies on the ground withstood enemy incursions, though several buildings were also torched thanks to the Borillo's heavy flamethrowers.
The real emergency occurred at the third wave, as the Soviets were able to deploy a Mobile Construction Vehicle near the U.S. perimeter and established a forward base to sustain the invasion. Relief was scarce, with only four Abrams Tanks and a couple of Aeroblaze AA vehicles come to aid in the defense of the Pentagon. In their panic, U.S. commanders gave the Allied Commander full control of the D.C. forward base and it's structures, unlocking it's weapons protocol.
During the assault, despite heavy pressure from all sides, the Allied Commander realized only a counterattack would be able to break the current Soviet hold and deplete the invasion force enough for the Soviets to pull back. A strike force was hastily assembled and pushed to the Soviet outpost, but without artillery or air support, the casualties were heavy. Still, the determination (or rather desperation) was strong enough for the American forces to overcome opposition and destroy the Soviet foothold. No attempts to reclaim the advantage were done by the Soviets, and the invasion force sustained too much damage to continue their advance. Although the cost was heavy, Washington D.C. and the Pentagon were left standing, becoming an inspiration for American forces that the Soviet Union could be held at bay.
First Battle of New York
Despite the initial losses, Soviet forces were able to establish a foothold in a section of the Hudson river, where a base was set up. Defenses held firm, for the time being, while a lifeline was set for recurring Soviet reinforcements, coming within the hour. The Statue of Liberty, however, was an entirely different story – an amphibious force was stationed at the particular portion of the river, meant for tourism, and all ground access was blocked by firmly entrenched American forces, with reinforcements being marshalled also within the hour.
Despite the initial failure, the General persisted on a naval approach to the Statue, particularly where he could set up a force of Dreadnoughts to bombard the monument from a distance. A small force of Typhoon submarines and Seawolves were able to pierce through the defending American amphibious force, particularly it's anti-air defenses, allowing the Dreadnoughts to come close enough to destroy it. The Statue of Liberty was reduced to shambles.
Despite the initial victory, the time wasn't quite ripe yet to advance to victory, as the General noticed two Allied outposts established close to bridges that linked to the Hudson's shores. One, in particular, led to the back of the Soviet base and could be exploited by the American forces, if they decided to counter attack. Thus, the General landed two separate parties of infantry aided by tank divisions to clear these positions and secure the bridges. The Americans attempted to stall the Soviet advance by destroying these two bridges but quick Engineer reinforcement resumed progress. Amongst the attack forces was Boris, an iconic Soviet hero, whom helped open most of the way to the Allied positions. Sadly, he was killed in action shortly thereafter.
With the bridges secured, the General was finally granted command of the foothold to conduct the final, major objective of obliterating all American opposition. Still, it was a complicated struggle which, even with armored and aerial support in the form of Kirov Airships, the Soviets conquered the city with heavy losses. The General only gained a slight edge with the destruction of stationed American forces meant to stop incoming Soviet reinforcements. Though few, these reinforcements were enough a distraction for the General to breach through the primary American lines and destroy the primary positions in charge of defending the city. The remaining American resistance was mopped up in a matter of hours.
The Battle of San Francisco
With the "staggering" success in New York City, Soviet Command had decided to slightly shift the gears for the Soviet General, this time to a naval role in the Western United States.
While the American Pacific Fleet was extremely powerful, fortunately they were far away to pose any immediate threat to the Soviet forces poised to assault San Francisco. The same couldn't be said, however, about the California State Fleet and the U.S. Coast Guard, as they had enough numbers and weapons to endanger Soviet naval landings. Furthermore, while the American's massive laser shore guns were preemptively eliminated at the start of the war, other coastal defenses, primarily the Grand Cannons, were still functional.
The General was thus charged with eliminating both threats, as the Far East Soviet Fleet (Pacific) wasn't as large or powerful as the Western Fleet (Atlantic), so it's loss would be more painfully felt. The General was also informed there wouldn't be any MCVs available for him, so he'd need to be careful with his ground forces and to not be overzealous in using Dreadnoughts to eliminate both Allied bases on both sides of the Golden Gate bridge.
In addition to his mission objectives, the General also received a peculiar request from PsiCorps, requesting that anti-air defenses be neutralized on Alcatraz Island, as they'd be airdropped there for an undisclosed operation of theirs.
Arrival of the General's assault fleet was signaled with the destruction of the Golden Gate bridge by a Kirov Airship, which was shortly shot down by Allied Aegis Cruisers. This flotilla was a combination of Seawolves, Typhoon submarines and Dreadnoughts with enough ammunition to bombard both the coastal defenses and the Allied bases. The remaining forces would later be mopped up by ground forces coming from both extremes of the Allied perimeter (top left and bottom right corners) as well as landings via Borillos and Zübr transports which the General held direct control.
The Soviet fleet's passage across the Golden Gate river was all but a peaceful one, especially with the California State Fleet and Coast Guard everywhere and occasionally reinforced. Almost half of what was supposed to be the Dreadnoughts escort was sunk in ship-to-ship battles, while the Grand Cannons were shot down in 'focused' fire, as most of the V4 rockets were destroyed by the rockets of nearby IFVs stationed by.
The landings started shorly afterwards, but ground resistance appeared to have been much far fiercer than it's naval one. Both 'ground teams' were forced to hold their position as the Dreadnoughts bombarded both defenses ceaselessly, while the remaining ships were ordered by the General to rush towards the Naval Yards between both main lands and Alcatraz and destroy them. Despite Soviet losses, the Allies weren't able to deploy further Allied vessels, by then, and thus were ordered to rejoin the Dreadnoughts to protect them. The Soviet ground forces were only able to advance once most of the defenses were bombarded to oblivion. The timely arrival of an engineering team allowed the Soviets to capture one of the Allied bases and assemble enough forces to neuter the disadvantage of an unavailable Soviet base for the General.
The actual issue came with Alcatraz itself, especially as it's anti-air defenses were so much comprised of Patriot Missile Batteries as Aeroblaze AA vehicles whose laser cannons could make short work of Dreadnought missiles, and were at an enough safe distance from a direct attack via Seawolves. A small advantage was only found in exploiting the island's defenses' dependance on the city's power grid, which was quickly shut down with the destruction of it's power plants. The Aeroblazes would be dealt with hours later, as well as much of the American resistance, only under through intense firepower. As Alcatraz was secured, PsiCorps moved in for its mission, with the General receiving praise from Yuri himself.
With San Francisco captured, it proved of incredible importance for the Soviet forces, much beyond territory control – one of the destroyed American base's records indicated President Dugan had evacuated D.C. and was secretly in San Antonio, Texas. Given that American resistance was being much fiercer than expected, the Union determined another moral crumbling strike had to be delivered, and thus the Soviet General would be given this particular honor.
The Assassination of President Dugan
Prior to the operations commencement, Morales had successfully infiltrated the American rear lines via a commandeered ice cream truck. However the General needed to construct a Field Bureau before contact could be made with him.
For the assassination to be successful, the Soviets had to force the President to retreat to a nearby civilian airfield, which Yuri has assured would be the second most likely place the President would retreat to after a more vulnerable military airfield. It is here that Morales will be in a position to assassinate Dugan.
The forward element of the Confederate task force arrived to the most vulnerable point in the American defensive line. Thanks to the quick usage of a Bomb Buggy, it tore a hole in the defensive line that gave the attack force the opening they needed to sweep away the remaining defenders. The General then moved up the rest of the Confederate task force and quickly set about establishing a forward operating base.
However the Americans very quickly ascertained what had happened and, very quickly, ground and aerial forces were dispatched to assail the Confederate position. The first to respond were American paratroopers that put a significant amount of pressure on the General, forcing him to establish Flak Cannon defences and ordering Conscripts and Flak Troopers to garrison nearby civilian structures to help fend off the incoming attacks. Strategic usage of the repair drones helped to keep the few Confederate vehicles, that were in the area, alive. Incoming Warhawks and Bulldog tank battalions forced the General to commit a large amount of resources into building up more Flak Cannons, Battle Bunkers and Sentry Guns.
With the Soviet position secure for the time being, the General was finally able to construct a Field Bureau and establish comms with Morales. With Morales now linked to the Soviet satellite system, he was now able to make his move to the perch where he could get a clean shot on the President. After fighting and dodging his way through rearguard American forces, Morales was successfully able to get into a position overlooking the civilian airfield.
At the same time as this was happening, the General began to push out and attack, using a force consisting mostly of Pyros, Tesla Troopers and Borillos with halftrack anti-air support, in addition to the liberal usage of Bomb Buggy's to destroy the entrenched American infantry. The General's forces were able to fight their way through the city and destroy the military airport, thus ensuring Dugan could only evacuate via the civilian airport.
The General's forces began to assault the Alamo, thus Dugan was quickly evacuated to the civilian airport for evacuation. With the President in his crosshairs, Morales successfully assassinated the President of the United States of America.
With the President's death, additional Soviet reinforcements were paradropped into the north west of the city. In addition, a stolen Stallion transport helicopter was made available to transport Morales into San Antonio proper. These forces assisted the General in sweeping away the remaining American resistance, thus ensuring an utter Soviet victory.
Soviet Invasion of Eastern Europe
Battle of Verecke Pass
Meanwhile, in Europe, the Politburo desired the reclamation of it's former territories it lost during the previous war. One of these is Ukraine, which, along with Poland and the United Baltic Republic, have had guarantees from America as well as the European Alliance, and thus have gotten too used with their freedom, to the point of fighting themselves against their former Soviet comrades to defend it.
The Battle for Ukraine wouldn't be further difficult if it weren't for the fact the Soviet General in charge is incompetent enough to drive his forces straight through the Verecke Pass, a heavily defended choke point, littered with Allied forces and Artillery Bunkers.
As a result, PsiCorps chose to perform this operation for it's own reasons: Despite it's successes, PsiCorps' funding and even independence were always criticized by Soviet Command. It'd take but a single failure for them to take advantage of Yuri's fragile position. They could not fail!
A small PsiCorps team under the Proselyte's command airdropped behind enemy lines along with a small Soviet infantry team as escort, right as the first wave of Soviet forces tried advancing through the Pass, but were shortly obliterated not only by enemy numbers, but by the Artillery Bunkers, as well. The gravity of the situation as well as the Soviet Commander's impatience meant the Proselyte had much less time than he had when he had to deactivate the Peacekeepers in America.
Fighting heavy enemy resistance, especially close to the Bunkers, the Proselyte figured that, instead of destroying them, he could turn the Bunkers to in turn soften enemy defenses at the pass below. The greatest issue, however, was that he had no Engineers given to him, so he had to resort "convince" the ones already in the field to his side. The first two Bunkers, close to a bridge connecting both sides of the pass and also near an Allied base, were captured, but some of PsiCorps' escort had to remain behind to defend them from European reclamation attempts. The 'replacements' had to come from mind-controlled Allied forces.
On the other side of the bridge lied not only garrisoned troops near a farm house, but also a small European outpost with a Barracks in it. The PsiCorps Adepts nearly strained themselves fighting through it, but they had managed to capture the Barracks with a spare mind-controlled Engineer, ensuring a supply of infantry that could fight through the defenses to the other Artillery Bunkers. On their hand, the Artillery Bunkers the Proselyte managed to capture had been at work devastating European positions whom didn't have air support to neutralize the enemy threat.
By then the second wave had arrived and, despite renewed artillery support, it was also defeated. The Proselyte was warned that the Soviet Commander would make one last attempt to push through and would mass up forces for it. If that wave was equally routed as the other two, the Soviets would have to abort, meaning a defeat for PsiCorps. With limited time, the Proselyte used all forces from the Barracks he captured to push through the defending Allied Forces and captured the remaining Artillery Bunkers, whom were working around the clocking softening up as much European forces on the pass as they could. Along the way, PsiCorps spotted a reserve of unmanned Allied vehicles that the Proselyte immediately ordered be commandeered, as he prepared his subverted forces for a suicidal plan - Even if the final Soviet advance managed to come through the Pass, he doubted there'd be enough strength to fight through and destroy the Allied base he discovered earlier, since it guarded the Pass' only landslide access to the upper cliff.
The Proselyte's forces, despite the advantage, waited until the third final wave arrived to start their advance on the Allied base, and even with the Allied vehicles they captured, the final fight was all but easy. Fortunately, they managed to break through and hold the access long enough for the last of Soviet forces to pass through and finish enemy resistance. Stragglers would be mopped up hours later.
With the capture of Ukraine, it meant not only the reclamation of a former Soviet territory, but also allowed further un-delayed accesses towards Western Europe. Pretty much like it happened in Vanderberg, PsiCorps pulled out of the area and allowed the Soviets to fight their own war.
The Tide Turns
Retaking Colorado Springs AFB
As the Soviet invasion of the United States proceeded, the Allies had lost many of its advantages during the initial phases, including its air power, thanks to the Soviet's capture of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Not only were their airplanes stuck on the ground, the schematics for the new American Stormchild fighter were within the Academy Chapel, making the mission to reclaim it ASAP even more pivotal.
Charged with reclaiming the Academy, the Allied Commander also received support from America's top operative, Special Agent Tanya, who would help disable Soviet defenses long enough for American forces to move in and reclaim the Academy, turn it into a base of operations and then drive away the remainder of the firmly entrenched Soviet forces.
The Commander was on the clock, however, as it was reported that a large Latin Confederation force was already on it's way from Mexico to strike at the US border. If they didn't hurry, there wouldn't be enough U.S. forces there to hold the assault.
Tanya showed up on the scene with a Medic, two GI's and two Guardian GI's. Shortly afterwards, two Spies arrived to help disable the power. Moving north, Tanya eliminated any patrols in their way, making sure not to be surprised by Soviet Attack Dogs hidden inside kennels. After crossing a bridge and destroying several vehicles nearby, the Commander ordered them to proceed up the hillside and move to a small lake nearby a Satellite Hack Center and some Oil Derricks. There were two Tesla Troopers next to the Hack Center so the Commander ordered his GGI's in as a distraction, breaking the sandbags so Tanya could kill them.
Tanya and the Spies were the only ones who would be able to cross the lake. As a result, the Commander ordered her to proceed on her own, killing any dogs that were near her position and headed down the hillside into the area where the power plants were. The Commander ordered the Spies to take their disguises and slowly follow on behind Tanya.
Now that she and the spies were in position, the Commander created a large force of GI's and GGI's at a nearby outpost and proceeded to the Air Force Base. He also ordered the Bulldog Light Tanks to follow the infantry column and assist in the capture of the facilities.
When they got within sight of the base, the Commander ordered the first Spy to enter the power plant and disable the power. Now that the defences were offline, he ordered his task force to destroy the Soviet Tesla Coils protecting the Construction Yard before the power could come back. He then ordered an Engineer to recapture it.
Just as the Commander ordered his second Spy to enter the power plant, the Soviets caught on to what he was doing and sold off their structures. However, good news arrived in the form of the Rocketeers. The Commander ordered them to destroy the Tesla Coils protecting the south side of the Airforce Base. Since the Soviets failed to produce any anti-aircraft defences, the Tesla Coils fell quickly.
He then ordered his Engineers to recapture all the remaining Allied buildings in the base which included a War Factory, a Refinery, some Allied Power Plants and the Air Force Command Headquarters, along with the chapel itself. At the same time as he did this, reinforcements arrived in the shape of a battalion of Bulldog Tanks.
Now that the Air Force Base was recaptured, the Commander prepared the operation to eliminate all Soviet forces surrounding the area. Reports came in from Allied Intel that the Stormchild schematics had been taken to the main Soviet base after the AFB was ransacked. He wouldn't allow the Soviets to get their hands on their tech.
He ordered a Stallion Transport Helicopter to take the Engineers back to where the Hack Center & Oil Derricks were and captured them. This gave the Commander a full tactical view of the battlefield. Now he could properly analyse the situation and devise a solution.
He ordered the Stallion back to base and take Tanya to an area behind the main Soviet base where several power plants were left relatively unguarded. He also ordered several Rocketeers to follow on behind to be a distraction for anti-aircraft guns. Tanya landed and wiped out enemy forces guarding the power plants. She then destroyed them and proceeded to a small hillside behind the main Soviet base.
The Soviets were definitely power hungry as they had constructed a massive number of power plants inside their main base. Tanya made her way down the hillside and killed any patrols she encountered, all the while, avoiding any sentry guns she encountered as there were simply too many to handle at once, even for her.
Tanya wiped out the power plants and then destroyed the Construction Yard and War Factory to prevent anymore buildings or vehicles to be built. After clearing out more patrols, she destroyed the Barracks and Ore Refinery to prevent any more infantry spamming.
After wiping out the main Soviet buildings, they sold off their remaining structures and began one final attack against Allied positions at the Air Force Base. Though outnumbered, the Commander kept a cool head and eliminated the remaining Soviet forces in the area, finally securing Colorado Springs AFB.
The Battle of Vladivostok
While the war in the United States was going well, back in the homeland, disaster struck! The Pacific Front had joined the war and invaded Russia's poorly defended Far-east territory. To make matters worse is that Russia's ally, China, didn't respond to the situation and merely ignored this backdoor attack. Soviet Command had their hands tied due to the majority of their forces being in United States and within the borders of Europe as well as in the Middle East.
With time being so short, the Soviet General left the United States immediately and headed back to the Motherland to muster a defense in Vladivostok. Another warning to him by the Politburo is that the Far East of Russia...was never strongly communist. As a result, he had to be on guard for "defectors" and White Russian resistance, along with the invading Pacific Front forces.
It was a tough fight but in the end, the anti-communist uprisings were quelled and the invasion was thwarted. The General's defence had kept the Allied fleet at bay, giving the Soviets more time for their troops in America to consolidate their positions. The United States had to be conquered before another strike from the Far East happened again.
Skirmish at the American Border
Elsewhere in the US, American forces rushed down to the border and mustered the few defences they had there. The Latin Confederation were advancing through Mexico at a rapid pace. The army approaching would be too powerful to drive back to Mexico fully, so it was decided by US Command that the first assault wave be destroyed, in order to disrupt the initial attack.
With only several minutes left before the first main wave arrived, the Commander prepared the defense of the border. Seconds after having been given Battle Control, several of the new American Stormchild's arrived at the Air Force Command Headquarters. Allied Command was currently testing a new precise anti-infantry laser system on the aircraft, hoping it would cause mass casualties in the Latin's forces.
As the Commander explored the area, he came across Jaguar Tanks. The Latin Confederation had sent scouts beyond the border to assess the situation. Without delay, the Commander destroyed these scouts with the use of the Stormchild aircraft. After the scouts were cleared, he quickly garrisoned the local bunkers and buildings with infantry and captured several Oil Derricks.
As expected, the Latin Confederation's first wave had now arrived at the US/Mexico border. The border guards tried to deal with the inital forces but it was too much. A few minutes after the inital attack, another force tried to take the passages through the hills in order to strike the Allies from behind. The Commander had prepared for this and the enemy troops were wiped out with the might of the air force.
Just as the Latin's managed to destroy the border guard outpost, Allied reinforcements arrived in from the north. However, due to the US currently fighting the Russians elsewhere, only a few Abrams Tanks were called in from reserves. The Commander would have to make do for a few more minutes.
As the battle continued, the Latin's had now deployed their Bomb Buggies, cheaper versions of the Demolition Truck(Although no less dangerous). The Commander kept his eye on the battlefield for these buggies and wiped them out with the Stormchild aircraft.
The attacks from the Latin Confederation were intensifying every minute. They were determined to push past the supposed weak defense garrison and into the United States itself. The Commander held off many attack groups, including Borillos.
After several minutes, a few more Abrams Tanks arrived onto the field. They would prove crucial to the whole battle, as their laser cannons chewed through infantry while their cannons crushed enemy armor. By now, the Allied outpost was almost in ruins from the attack. Still, they clinged on by mere threads.
Reports came in to the Commander that the formation of the enemy forces had changed. They were trying something different to crush the Allied line of defense. As it turned out, they changed formation for a reason: Kirov Airships had now reached the area! The Commander had to destroy them before they leave the area, or the fate of many Allied divisions behind him would suffer.
Fortunately, he had planned ahead in case something like this happened. He ordered a mass army of GGI's and Rocketeers to move in and shoot those blimps out of the sky. The attack proved effective, the Kirov's plummeted to the ground and were destroyed.
Utilizing the new tech acquired from Colorado Springs AFB, the Allied Commander had managed to wipe out the initial invasion force. LC commanders thought there were more defences at the border than they had initially believed and were ordered back to reorganize and regroup
With the border secured for the time being, Allied Command decided to focus on the Soviets naval influence on the East Coast. Ever since they attacked both sides of the U.S., they were fearful of how powerful the Allied navy was. As a result of this paranoia, they had captured the Mayport Naval Yards in Florida in order to keep the fleet contained. If the Americans wanted any chance of driving out the Soviet invaders, this port needed to be secured.
They tasked the Commander with liberating the Naval Yards by first capturing the Port Authority building, with help from Special Agent Tanya. Once that was secured, the Allies would send him an MCV to help build up a strike force to drive the Soviets out. It would be tough as Tanya and several other troops would be on their own in the inital phases of the mission. The Commander had to succeed, or else the entire East Coast would fall in matter of days!
Second Battle of New York
After the Allied Commander had managed to retake the Mayport Naval Yards from the Soviets, Allied Command was soon given reports of a task force which had lost communications in New York City. Wondering how they could suddenly lose contact with a whole division of troops, they tasked the Commander with a mission to recon the area and find out what happened to them.
Should the Commander find a way to re-establish contact with the division, his orders were to assist the task force with taking the city back under Allied control. What followed would be a major surprise for the whole of Allied Command...
While Battlefield Control was being established, the Commander noticed that Civilians and American troops were firing upon his own forces. Intel reported that surviving Allied troops were located south-west from his current location. With this knowledge, and a warning from Allied Command about more soldiers turning against him, the Commander moved his forces out.
Using newly acquired Riot Troopers, he quickly eliminated any opposition he found and made his way to the river, his Voyager Transports following on behind. After some fighting, the Commander captured a Naval Shipyard and a Barracks. He soon had them be repaired by Engineers.
With the Naval Shipyard and Barracks back in a reasonable condition, the Commander prepared a small fleet to pave way for a rescue mission, sinking several Soviet ships in the process. His soldiers landed there and began to move towards the place where the task force was held captive, but something wasn't right. Upon their arrival, the captives began firing on their would-be rescuers. Realizing that the task force is now a threat and beyond help, the Commander had no choice but order his troops to execute these "treasonous" soldiers.
Afterwards, Intel located a mysterious object in the place where the World Trade Center once was. They believed it was responsible for why their forces were turning "Red". They predicted that, should they stay in the city for too long, they too would be affected. The Commander mobilized his forces and headed deeper into New York City, facing both Soviet soldiers as well as Armed American Civilians and Soldiers. They also managed to rescue a captive Engineer, who was key in capturing the building.
Eventually, his men reached and captured the device, powering it down immediately. As a result, the "turned" American personnel and Civilians suddenly snapped from Soviet Control and began fighting the Russians. US command was curious about what and how this mysterious machine worked? While the Soviets sold off their power to prevent the Allies from harnessing its potential, a series of civilian Power Plants were located around New York City that could be used as substitutes.
After some persistent fighting, the Commander harnessed enough power to get the device up and running. Without warning, all Soviet forces present in New York City were suddenly now under his control. Before he could take any action, his Engineers reported that they had no idea how to keep the device working. As a result, the whole thing blew up, freeing the Soviets from control. With no other options, the Commander orders all forces to eliminate the remaining Soviets and secure New York City, putting it back under Allied control.
The Threat of MIDAS
The Fall of St. Louis
After returning to the United States, the General was given another mission: He was to clear out the Allied outpost and defenders around the Busch Stadium so the way can be paved for a Psychic Beacon, a mind control device created by Yuri to bend the thoughts of the American people. Time was of the essence here as the Beacon had to be activated before the General's task force was wiped out by the St. Louis defenders, who had set up multiple bases across the city.
Starting with an initial force of infantry and vehicles, he made his way to the Stadium and began to clear out the Allied defenders. It proved to be a difficult task as the Americans had several Abrams Tanks along with Gun Turrets to deal with his armor while Pillboxes and GI's dealt with the infantry. Fortunately for him, several groups of reinforcements arrived to assist the General in dealing with the stubborn defenses.
After several minutes, the Allied outpost and defenders were eliminated. The General was given the honor of building and placing the Psychic Beacon inside the Busch Stadium. After being placed, the Beacon needed 40 minutes to calibrate before it could come online. Soviet Command gave the General access to the forward base that was already set up inside the city. Unfortunately for him, no Soviet MCV's were available to assist. Therefore, the General would either have to make do without one or capture an Allied MCV and use their technology against them.
Just as the General placed the Beacon down in the Stadium, Allied forces soon sent several MCV's to setup multiple bases. He would have to fend them off for the next 40 minutes or this whole mission would be aborted. He dug in with his forces and prepared for the massive Allied counterattack.
The fight was hard going at points, many of his tanks and infantry were wiped out by Siege Cadres and Guardian GI's. His forward base even began to come under attack from Allied forces from behind. Soviet Command soon sent several Kirovs to help deal with Allied bases in the area. Eventually, after much fighting, the Psychic Beacon came online and the entire city of St. Louis came under Soviet control.
Americans were beginning to join their armies, ready to kill their fellow countrymen. In a matter of hours, their ranks would be majorly bolstered. However, just as things got good, they soon received disastrous news that the New York Psychic Beacon had been destroyed and that the Psychic Amplifier and Beacon in Chicago were coming under attack. Measures would need to be taken to stop this Allied assault...and they soon got them...
The Destruction of Chicago
With the discovery of the Soviet Psychic Technology, US Intelligence had finally understood the root cause of their defeat. The Soviets had been using mind control since the start of the war, sabotaging the Peacekeeper Missiles and allowing them to march on through the country nearly unhindered.
Of course, after discovering the Psychic Beacon in New York, more of them would start popping up in the United States, like mushrooms in every major city. If left unhindered, they would bring every man, woman and child under Soviet control. For now, Intel has located two new Psychic Beacons in St. Louis and Chicago.
So far, the Allies understood little about the Psychic Beacon device and it's range. However, the one in Chicago is a lot different because a second device, located a short distance from the Beacon, can increase the frequency, expanding the radius. If this Beacon and Amplifier were not stopped, it would bring the whole continental US under Soviet control. The Allied Commander was selected to control of the operation, leading a fleet into Lake Michigan. Once they destroyed the Psychic Beacon there, they would get assistance from the freed victims to destroy the Amplifier before the Soviets could active it!
Wasting no time, the Commander ordered his Destroyers and Navy SEALS to keep the Soviet and mind controlled Allied vessels occupied while his Aircraft Carriers took care of the Grand Cannons & Patriot Missile Sites guarding the harbor. After these were cleared, he ordered them to make a quick surgical strike on the Psychic Beacon in order to destroy it as he wanted to minimize causalities in the Allied ranks since he'll be using them later.
Once the Psychic Beacon was destroyed, the freed American forces attacked their Soviet masters and cleared the harbor. Now that he had a base, he began constructing war factories and expanding his refinery operations. He also built more shipyards in order to support his naval fleet.
Allied Intel soon gave the location of the Psychic Amplifier, located a short distance from the Commander's base, just over the Calumet river. He was soon given a timer to show him how long it would be until the Amplifier activates. With this information, he constructed an army to break through the Soviet defences in order to reach the device.
The Commander suffered moderate losses as he had to fight his way through a tight street environment. The Soviets had used the buildings as cover, creating killing zones for the Allied troops. Regardless, he eventually broke through the line of Soviet defences and reached the base containing the Psychic Amplifier. After losing many more units, he managed to reach the device and destroy it, preventing the activation.
Normally, this would be a cause for celebration. However, moments after destroying the Amplifier, sirens rang across the city. The Commander, nor the Allied troops, had any idea what was going on. Suddenly, a MIDAS ICBM landed straight into the old Soviet base, annihilating both American and Latin Confederation forces. The city of Chicago was now in complete ruins.
Raid on Sakhalin Island
Things were going downhill for the Americans. The Soviets were winning, their president was dead and the Pentagon is under Soviet hands, causing a major collapse in American Central Leadership. Many US forces are split and the defense of the country now lies in the hands of state governors and other militias that still resist the Soviets. The surviving American forces were now very angry at the Europeans and members of the Pacific Front for leaving them in their dire hour of need.
Thankfully, the Allied Commander was one of the few lucky survivors that survived the catastrophe that struck Chicago when the MIDAS warhead landed. Although the US Atlantic Fleet, still operational despite this crisis, have set sail to Europe, Tanya has refused to back down. She and other US officers believe that it's the MIDAS itself that keeps the Europeans from helping them in their efforts. So she decides to handle the situation head on, using Intelligence from the Japanese on the whereabouts to a facility that might be the core of the MIDAS project.
Allied Intel advised capturing an old and abandoned Soviet Airfield in order to gather information on the region. Using a small force of GI's and a lone Engineer, the Commander proceeded to his objective, eliminating any Soviet troops in the way. The Engineer made his way into the building and captured it, completing their first objective.
Gathering what data they could, the Airfield was soon abandoned again now that it was useless to the Allies. Allied Intel pinpointed the location of a Mining Facility that contained the coordinates of several MIDAS warheads. With the info they needed, Tanya, several Spies and other units were paradropped into the area. The taskforce made their way across the Soviet base, cutting down any patrols they found. They even managed to recover a Stallion Transport that was captured by the Russians.
After major fighting, including several near misses from Wolfhounds and a firefight through the main Soviet defences that required a bit of strategy on the Commander's part, Tanya and her forces made their way to the Mining Facility, which was located on the other side of a river. After clearing out the defences and patrols, the Commander ordered one of his spies to enter the building in order to recover the information on the MIDAS warheads. Tanya destroyed it shortly afterward, completing their second objective.
Once they had acquired the information they needed, Allied Command ordered that the rest of the Storage Hangars were to be destroyed, in order to cripple their ICBM production capabilities. The Commander ordered Tanya and her group to head back to several locations they passed and destroy the hangars, again, cutting down any patrols and blowing up any defenses they could detect.
It was a close call at several points, one of the Field Medics nearly got killed in action as more Soviet para-drops came into the area. Desolators were soon called in order to deal with Tanya (As their RAD cannons could effectively kill infantry in a few hits). Despite all the near misses he had, the Commander was able to pull through and destroy the Storage Hangars, completing the third and final objective. After that, Tanya and all other Allied units were pulled out of the area before enemy reinforcements arrived.
Raid on the Topol-M Platforms
After remnant U.S. forces managed to recover the information they needed on the location of the ICBM launchers, they informed the European Alliance of the situation. The Alliance had taken no chances on this this mission since it would be the deciding factor between victory and defeat.
As a result, the Pacific Front had agreed to send Kanegawa jamming equipment to them while the Euro Alliance prepared a strike force to deploy. Time was of the essence here. As soon as the Europeans landed, and with their communications cut, the Russians would resort to a backup plan and start fuelling the ICBMs for immediate launch. If they launched, it would be, both, Armageddon and a final victory for the communist nations.
Fortunately, several European sleeper agents were around. The Allied Commander was ordered to secure a Field Bureau, in order to reveal the locations of the launchers. He was reminded that they would have only one shot at this. If it worked, it would help change the course of the war for the Allied Nations.
Working with an inital team of Navy SEALS, the Commander made his way to the shoreline, destroying any submarines and killing any patrols that were in their way. After the beach was secured, a Voyager Transport arrived on the battlefield. The Commander ordered it to make its way to the shore and drop off its reinforcements, including the brand new Siege Cadres which were excellent at destroying enemy structures. With new units to reinforce the SEAL team, he ordered the task force to move out.
Fighting his way through Soviet territory, the Commander, and his troops, finally made their way to the Field Bureau. After clearing the enemy forces in the area, the double agent Engineer revealed himself and captured the building, completing the first objective.
Now that the Field Bureau was under their control, Allied intel used the data recovered from it to locate the Topol-M platforms. During this time, the Commander ordered in several reinforcements via an air drop due to Allied double agents disabling the power to the anti-air guns for a while. Eventually, the power came back online and he was unable to call in any more forces.
A few minutes later, a test missile launch was detected by Allied intel. It destroyed a nearby city, killing thousands of civilians. The Allies had to destroy the platforms before the real payload could be launched at cities across the globe. Making their way across the battlefield, the Commander ordered his units to target and destroy the launchers they came across. For each launcher that was destroyed throughout the mission, the Europeans sent more reinforcements into the area.
After destroying several, the launch of the platforms had fast forwarded from a few hours to a mere half hour, causing the Commander to rush to the next few launchers before they could fire the payload at another city. The fight was brutal, many Europeans lost their lives in the raid as a result of heavy Soviet defences. Eventually, the Commander was able to destroy all 6 ICBM platforms, completing the second and final objective of the mission. His forces were soon evacuated from the area before the Russians sent reinforcements to investigate.
The Fractued Alliance
Soviet Raid on Devon Island
The Battle of Hawaii
Holding the Line
The Battle of the Jizera Mountains Array
Following the successful Allied operation in Krasnodar Krai and the destruction of the Topol-M platforms stationed there, the Euro Alliance threw in their full support in the war against the Soviets.
Unfortunately the Soviets, emboldened by the destruction of most of their MIDAS warheads, dispensed with their slow, methodical, piecemeal absorption of their former Baltic and Balkan territories and commenced a brutal blitzkrieg invasion of Central Europe.
Eventually, with the aid of Chinese reinforcements, the Russian army was able to seize most of a vital communications array in the Czechoslovakian Jizera Mountains. Without it, the Euro Alliance would not be able to communicate and coordinate with the Pacific Front forces, now that satellite communications were much less reliable.
The Allied Commander was dispatched to the location of the two remaining radar domes still in Allied hands, along with Alliance war hero Siegfried in a desperate attempt to turn back the Soviet advance and reclaim the array before the Sino-Russian force could overwhelm them.
With a limited force, the Commander moved his forces out. His army defended the first two Radar Domes from enemy attacks before proceeding to retake the captured ones which had been claimed by the Russians. Losses were moderate, the Soviets had begun to use Scud Launchers to devastate their enemies.
Despite the bloodshed caused by the battle, the Commander retook the Domes and prepared defensive positions in order to destroy any counter-attacks by the Soviets. He kept Rocketeers on standby as well in order to intercept Scud Launchers that tried to destroy his defences from long range. He was soon sent a team of Snipers as to hold these locations, as they prove very effective against the mass infantry assaults.
Just when the Commander thought things couldn't get worse, Chinese units began to roll in on their positions. He had to pull his forces back for a moment in order to deal with the heavy tank columns. However, they would not prevail and the Chinese tanks were destroyed.
Giving a little bit of room to breathe, the Commander reinforced his units by building more vehicles and training more troops. After the respite, he ordered his forces to head for the Soviet base so they could stop the nuclear missile from being launched. The defences at the base were well entrenched, Tesla coils electrocuted infantry to cinders while tanks were crushed under the mass fire of Russian & Chinese units.
Eventually, the Commander was able to fight his way past the defences and destroy the Tactical Nuke Silo, preventing any launches and giving the Europeans something to sigh with relief about. With the threat lifted, he was able to rebuild his armies as well as capture some Soviet buildings to help fund his war effort. After a prolonged fight, the Russians & Chinese pulled out of the area in order to reorganize and regroup.
The Kyoto Operation
After the Allied Commander successfully restored secure communication channels, they managed to contact agents from the Pacific Front. According to their communication, as the Soviet assault broke through Bohemia, it is known that the Allies still have a hope of winning by learning about the Paradox Project.
After the Second World War, Einstein realized that manipulating space and time is not something mortals have the right to, due to its dangers and ethical issues, especially after being haunted by those who died during the conflict at the hands of the weapons he created during the war. Prior to his death, Einstein destroyed or encrypted almost all data on his project, indefinitely putting its progress on hold. However, he and his like-minded friends knew that the Chronosphere might still be useful to protect the free world, so Einstein left clues behind for the project to be assembled again in times of dire need.
After Tesla defected to America, Siegfried took the helm as the Paradox Project's leader in Europe. He explained the Project's details to the Commander and the rest of the Allied command, including the involvement of the Japanese-based Kanegawa Industries as the project's leader. Unfortunately, the People's Republic of China joined the war on the Soviet side and had invaded Japan. The Commander should have realized this earlier, and suspected that Yuri's insidious mind control had kept them away from the truth for months, if not years. Siegfried needs the KI scientists' help in order to complete the Project, and decided to risk using the newly assembled and unstable Chronosphere to bring the scientists out safely. The last message, before the signal got cut, mentioned that the scientists are hiding in the Myoshinji Temple complex in Kyoto, Japan.
Knowing that the Paradox Project would be able to turn the tide of the war, the Commander heads to Japan and mounts a daring rescue operation to bring the scientists out of the Chinese clutch, safely. Due to the nature of the operation, however, he would have to make do with limited forces.
Hiding inside a truck, the Technician made his way to the prototype Tsurugi, which was smuggled in with assistance from covert Pacific Front agents. With only one unit to work with for the time being, the Commander made his way around the complex, searching for the scientists while killing any infantry patrols he came across, avoiding the more heavily armed routes that were guarded by Chinese Qilin Tanks.
After rescuing the first KI scientist, he pointed out that a double agent GGI was held up inside a rogue Pacific Front base. Making their way to the camp, the Commander ordered the Tsurugi to enter it in order to signal the GGI to come out of a tent. Several rogue GI's tried to stop him but the prototype power-suit was able to cut them down in seconds.
Now that he had an anti-vehicle unit, he could afford to lure a single tank to his position. Using this advantage, the Commander's company made their way to the next several complexes in order to rescue the last 3 scientists. He also ordered the Tsurugi to pick up any crates that it came across in order to increase the armor/firepower/speed of the unit.
After rescuing the second scientist, the Commander was warned about the Nuwa Cannon, a super tank created by the Chinese. Because its firepower could easily wipe out the Tsurugi, he was advised to avoid the vehicle at all costs. Accepting the warning, he made his way to the last two temples and eliminated the guards surrounding them, freeing the scientists and completing the first objective.
Now that the scientists were rescued, Siegfried prepared to activate the Chronosphere in order to open up a portal. It would take a few minutes before it was ready so they ordered the Commander to take the scientists, move them over to the extraction point and put them in a Battle Tortoise, avoiding any heavy patrols he came across.
Making sure to cover the Tsurugi's tracks, the Commander made his way over to the Battle Tortoise and ordered the scientists inside, completing the second and final objective. A portal soon opened up and the vehicle made its way to the SteinsTech Lab in the Black Forest, located in Germany.
The Chono Gambit
The Battle of the Black Forest
Relieved for rescuing and taking the KI scientists out of Japan safely, the Commander is also glad to see that the Chronosphere remained useful to the Allied cause. The scientists had been successfully chronoshifted to Germany, but there was a slight problem. Unknown to them, Yunru had sabotaged the Chronosphere and caused the chronoshift's destination to be slightly off... by several kilometers from the main drop off point. It doesn't help the Allies that the Chinese forces in Japan managed to inform the European front what happened in Kyoto, putting the Commander in a nightmarish situation.
Fortunately, the Allied front and the experimental Prism Towers managed to protect the SteinsTech lab well. The Soviet forces, however, would surely target the chronoed in convoy to deal with the scientists. Despite Siegfried's help, who was also carrying an MCV with them, it would be difficult to take them safely into the lab through the Black Forest. This small group was critical to the temporal technology of the free world – if they are destroyed, the war would be lost. The Allied forces in the region would do their best to distract, reinforce and support the group, as their fate depends on whether the scientists can make it to the lab or not.
The Commander had to put his best strategic skills to good use to bring the scientists to the Lab. Once that was done, he would then establish a base of operations to repel the Sino-Russian attackers. This will be one of the hardest challenges he's had to face so far.
While Battlefield Control was being established, the Commander was warned about Russian and Chinese forces located north west of the convoy's position. Until they reached friendly lines, they would be under fire from enemy attacks. Acknowledging the warning, he prepared his force and escorted the Battle Tortoise to the Allied base.
He soon received reinforcements in the form of Zephyr mobile artillery, which would prove useful when it came to covering fire. With these reinforcements, the Commander made his way through the Black Forest, passing checkpoints that were cleared by Russian and Chinese forces in their desperate act to annihilate the Battle Tortoise. At one point, the convoy had to take a detour after a significant amount of Soviet forces blocked the road, only to be ambushed in an abandoned town.
Luckily, the Commander was able to fight the communists off and the convoy took a second detour in order to avoid a Chinese base. They made their way to another Allied outpost, only to be warned that an attack was imminent. Eventually, after passing the outpost and dealing with more Soviet troops, the task force arrived at the Allied base and the MCV deployed into a Construction Yard while the KI Scientists made it to SteinsTech Lab, completing the first objective.
Now that the scientists were safely escorted to the lab, Allied Command ordered the Commander to hold the base and destroy the Russian and Chinese bases while the Lab readied up the Chronosphere in order to safely teleport the KI Scientists elsewhere in Europe. Finally able to work with a base, he began construction of many defenses and built up a large defensive force.
The fight was hard-going for the Commander as the Soviets had time to amass a large force in the Black Forest, ready to crush the Allies into a bloody pulp. Many units were lost on both sides, the defenses of both bases were put to their max as a massive amount of troops and vehicles tried to break into each others lines.
The Commander was patient, however. Despite the losses, he was able to make it inside the Russian base first and raze the entire place to the ground, crippling their war effort in the area. Afterwards, he turned towards the Chinese base and did the same thing. He made sure that no Soviet force made it past the Allied defences and try to wreck the SteinsTech Lab.
Suddenly, just as the last of the Soviet attackers are eliminated, an air raid alarm glares. It turns out that it was a warning about an incoming MIDAS ICBM! The MIDAS hits the Chronosphere, and shortly afterwards annihilates anything within the nuclear explosion, including the Chronosphere itself, the SteinsTech lab, all Allied forces around the area and the entire Black Forest.
Second Raid on the Topol-M Platforms
The Last Stand
The Defense of the English Channel
Following the destruction brought by the MIDAS, the Soviets had taken over Germany and moved on to France. Despite successfully holding Northern France under their grasp, the Soviets' progress was halted by what's left of Euro Alliance forces holding their ground in the Occitania, bringing some relief to the Commander and the American Expeditionary Force, the former of whom had begun to lose his trust on the Alliance after eavesdropping on their communications with the Pacific Front earlier which revealed that the latter were "borrowing" the Americans' Mercury System from them.
Things were taking turns into worse, however. The Soviets were preparing for a massive naval invasion to finish their occupation of Europe by conquering Britain. Fortunately, one thing stands in their way – the Gladius ABM. A missile shield with unknown principles that the British kept a closely guarded secret. While it was inferior to the American SDI, it was still highly effective – capable of intercepting even the MIDAS ICBMs. However, it had a limited range, which necessitated the construction of numerous such devices around the coasts of England. Should even one of the Gladius ABMs be destroyed, a MIDAS would be able to get through – the Soviets do know well of the fact, and had sent their massive fleet to destroy the Gladius ABMs and finally paint Europe red.
The Commander thus lead the remnants of European Alliance and the American Expeditionary Force to mount a defense with all the might they have left to defend Britain from the Soviet invasion at all costs. If they failed, Britain would fall, and the free world would be no more.
Working with a base, a large force of infantry, vehicles and naval vessels, the Commander prepared to batten down the hatches and hold off the incoming Soviet armada just over the channel. Given a few minutes before it arrives, he constructed many defenses and ships to defend the Gladius systems at several points. He also reinforced his ground forces with fresh units in order to hold any incoming airborne and amphibious assaults. Allied Command advised him to reactivate several old Grand Cannons with Engineers to help reinforce the coastal defences.
After a minute, Command gave him permission to use the ultimate Alliance aerial support unit, the Thor Gunship. He soon constructed more and placed them at several key points across the coast in order to defend against infantry and air attacks. Just before the Soviet armada showed up, several Battleships arrived to assist in the defence of the country.
As expected, the Soviet force soon appeared just on the horizon, alerting the Allies about the imminent attack, The fight was hard, brutal and bloody. Many naval vessels, vehicles and troops lost their lives in the defense of the United Kingdom due to the sheer amount of firepower being brought to bear by the communists. Kirov Airships tried to make a quick victory over the Allies by bombing the Gladius system. However, the Commander was able to construct many air defences in order to stop the Kirov armada.
Next, the Dreadnoughts arrived to see if they could break through the Allied line and destroy the Gladius ABM. Despite several missiles making near misses, the ships were soon sunk by Allied naval vessels and the Gladius was repaired quickly so that it remained in working condition. The Allies could not afford to lose even one of these devices. Soviet reinforcements soon showed up in the form of Chinese and Latin Confederation units in order to support the Russian advance. Much like before, the Commander held off the attacks as best as he could.
Allied Command soon warned him about a Tactical Nuke Silo being built in the area. While the Gladius could destroy any incoming ICBMs, it was specifically designed to destroy them while they were still high in the atmosphere. Tactical nukes, on the other hand, could be launched from a much lower altitude, ignoring the Anti-Missile shield. With this warning in mind, he prepared to send a strike force to wipe out the Soviet base being built in Calais while protecting the devices with his fleet.
Now that the attacks from the Soviets had died down, the Commander ordered up his reserve force to attack the enemy bases in Calais. The fight was hard, many naval, air and ground units were lost as a result of the Soviet's use of heavy defensive positions. Despite all the losses, he managed to push through their lines and destroy the Tactical Nuke Silo, saving the Gladius from a nuclear fate.
After dealing with the Soviet's nuclear capabilities, the Commander ordered his units to wipe out every single Russian, Latin and Chinese unit in the region. He knew that even one of the Dreadnoughts or Kirovs get through his lines and destroy even one of the Gladius devices, the Allies would be doomed to a world of communists. With this fear in mind, he pushed on through and systematically removed all Soviet presence from the French city of Calais. Suffering heavy losses, they were forced to retreat from the region. After a long and bloody fight, the Commander could finally rest, knowing he saved the Allied cause.
The Battle of Britain is over. The Allies successfully managed to fight off their Soviet attackers and kept the Gladius ABM system intact. For now, they would be able to lick their wounds, regroup and come up with a new plan.
Across the world, however, things were not so good for The Allied Nations. The United States had now completely fallen to Soviet hands, only several groups of American Rebels were left. The Pacific Front had betrayed The Allied cause and joined up with China. Russia had put China in its place after they tried to force Moscow to recognize that they were the true leader of the Soviet Union. Later, The Pacific Front and China fought one another after an incident involving a border skirmish between North Korea and South Korea (which was instigated by PsiCorps agents).
Russia, bloodied by the recent battle against their former ally, began to rest and celebrate the fact that they had won the Third World War. All across the communist nations (Except China due to the war between them and The Pacific Front), parades and parties were made in the streets. Washington DC was later renamed Stalington in honor of their previous leader, Joseph Stalin. Peace and quiet began to creep into the world.
Due to these celebrations, they were not aware of the theft of one of their rocket facilities by PsiCorps troops. Yuri had acquired the equipment, blueprints and ideas necessary for the foundation of his own army (Which he would name Epsilon). He announced to his followers, the Proselyte included, that their time has finally come and that no one would stand in their way. He closed his declaration by stating the following:
|“||Mankind's future shall be ours to command and conquer!||”|
From this point onward, the Proselyte commands the Epsilon Army in building up a large military force strong enough to challenge the weak Allies and the foolish Soviets by using unconventional but effective weapons. He also oversees the taking of Antarctica sometime afterwards, where it henceforth becomes their base of operations.
It takes two years before they are ready to reveal themselves to the world. The Proselyte would soon be given the honor to take part in an action that would make the whole planet know of Epsilon's existence: exposing the Russians' lies that had kept everything in check.
Soon enough, the Mental Omega War would begin...
